What is this book about?
I think it’s important to mention that you could get a little misled by the title of the book, ‘How to Get What You Want in 7 Weeks’.
You may want to buy a yacht, but, sadly, it’s highly unlikely that this book will help you achieve that in 7 weeks.
The word ‘want’ in the title can often make us think of accumulating material possessions, which is not the goal of the book.
Instead, I believe the sub-title, ‘The Journey To Rediscovering Your Authentic Self’, sums up the book much better.
Overall, the book is teaching you how to be a better version of yourself and covers topic such as;
- how to be more present,
- how to maintain a positive attitude,
- how to be more mindful,
- how to manage your own thoughts,
- how to manage your energy levels,
- and a bit on meditation.
Read it in 7 weeks
One of my favorite things about this book is the actionability of it.
Because it’s called ‘How to Get What You Want in 7 Weeks’, the book’s content is cleverly broken down into 7 weeks.
The idea is that you read one part of the book each week, complete the exercises, and then consciously implement what it is that you have learned throughout that week before moving onto the next part of the book.
A great way to encourage readers to take action.
…just another personal development book
There is nothing wrong with this book.
It has got a very eye-catching design, a nice layout, it’s simple and easy to read, but it is just another personal development book.
Unfortunately, I’ve read a lot of these books now and therefore I didn’t learn anything new.
If you are a keen reader of personal development, I’d recommend that you give this book a miss as it won’t be worth your time.
However, if personal development is an area that you are just starting to explore, then this book would be a great introduction for you.
