Instead of the OMG standing for Oh My God, for this book, it stands for Observational Marketing Greats.
It’s one of my favourite books and I go back to it time and time again.
I hate boring and predictable marketing that everyone else does.I hate seeing 10% off – is this really going to motivate anyone into purchasing? Especially when the average order value is about $20, making the discount just $2.
Is $2 going to motivate anyone into making a buying decision? Probably not. Unless the consumer was going to purchase at some point anyway, in which case the business has just lost out on some profit.
A good sale should MAKE the business money, not LOSE it.
OMG is full of interesting marketing examples that will make your potential customer stop and react.
It’s not really a book as such because you don’t need to start at the beginning and read through till the end. You can open the book at any page and learn about the boring ways in which people are marketing and then learn about ways in which you could do it differently and be more exciting so that people actually give a crap.
If you are one of these people that does the exact same boring and predictable marketing as everyone else, then you need to get this book.
