Key Person of Influence by Daniel Priestley
I’m going to be honest and let you know that this book wasn’t on my reading list.
The author, Daniel Priestly, saw a negative review that I gave of another personal branding book (Introduction to Personal Branding by Mel Carson) and decided to get in touch to offer me his book on the subject.
I accepted his kind offer but I hadn’t planned to read it straight away. Instead, I planned to pop it to the bottom of the pile and to read it when I got around to it.
However, that didn’t happen.
As soon as the book arrived, I opened the package and had a quick little flick through. I read the front and back cover of the book and then started on the first page.
The next thing I knew, I was going from page to page and the book then jumped to the top of the pile on my reading list.
I even stopped reading a book that I was halfway through to read this book instead.
The Key Person of Influence teaches you how to become an influencer within your target market and/or area of expertise, and as it says on the cover, it’s ‘the 5-step method to become one of the most highly valued and highly paid people in your industry.’
Before I get into the content of the book, I would like to note that the design and layout of this book is amazing.
This is most likely one of the reasons why I was able to read it so quickly and also why I was drawn into the book almost instantaneously.
It never felt like a chore at any point, it was really easy to read and digest.
I love it when books are designed well and people have put thought into the font, spacing, design and layout because it really does enhance the user experience.
Now, if we move onto the actual content of the book, I have read a few books on personal branding, and I would have to say, hands down, that this is the best book on the subject by far.
Not only is it giving you the information that you need, it’s giving you the method and the steps that you need to take.
The book then goes through all of these five steps, breaks them down, explains why they are so important and what you have to do to achieve that step before moving onto the next.
Throughout the book, and at the end of each step, there is a workbook section where the author will ask you a few questions, give you the opportunity to make notes and encourages you to think a bit more about your brand and what you are trying to achieve.
Overall, I really love this book, and I’m not saying that because the author sent me the book himself.
I’ve not been paid or sponsored to create this content or review. This is 100% my honest opinion and I have no biases towards the author.
If you want to become an influencer in your chosen industry, then I highly recommend you get this book.
